Reflexology
Reflexology is a touch therapy involving the application of pressure to the feet, hands and ears. The theory is that all the systems and organs of the whole body are mirrored or reflected in these smaller peripheral areas. Reflexology takes roots from the ancient Chinese belief in “qi” (or “vital energy). According to this belief, “qi” flows through each person and when a person feels stressed, the body blocks this vital energy which can then cause an imbalance in the body that may present as illness/disease (dis-ease).
Reflexology is a very individual treatment which is tailored to you as a whole person, considering both physical and non-physical factors that might be affecting your wellbeing and helping the body to restore its balance naturally. It can be used safely alongside standard healthcare and can be received by anyone at any age, from new-born babies to those receiving end of life care, and everyone in between.
Disclaimer: There may occasionally be times when it is not suitable to provide a treatment. Reflexology should not be used as an alternative to seeking medical advice.

Before your first session you will be asked about your general health and lifestyle, going over your medical history to talk about any underlying health problems, as well as discussing what you hope to gain through reflexology.
You will be asked to remove your shoes and socks before laying down on the massage table or taking a seated position in the reclining chair should you prefer. The session will begin with a gentle warm-up of the feet, before applying pressure from your toes to heel using a variety of techniques.
You may find that some areas may be more tender than others, but reflexology should not be painful. Some people may notice the benefits straight away, while others may notice a more gradual improvement of their presenting symptoms over the course of multiple sessions. You should leave the session feeling calm and relaxed.
