Nutritional Therapy

Nutrition and lifestyle approaches to healthcare have been shown to support the health of all the major systems of the body (skeletal, muscular, nervous, respiratory, cardiovascular, digestive, excretory, endocrine, immune, reproductive and integumentary [skin, hair, nails]).

We all know what we should be eating but even with the best intentions, with today’s hectic lifestyle and work pressures it’s sometimes hard to follow this through!

I provide informative and specialist advice on all aspects of nutrition alongside the support and direction you need to help motivate and empower you to achieve healthy lifestyle choices.

Information

What is Naturopathy?

A naturopathic outlook identifies the imbalances in a specific diet and lifestyle and attempts to adjust these imbalances to allow the body its natural ability to correct and heal itself. More importantly, naturopathic nutrition takes a holistic approach to healing that treats everyone as an individual rather than the conventional approach of treating the disease or its symptoms.

Biochemically we are all unique thanks to our genetically inherited characteristics. This explains why a diet that works well for one person may be inappropriate for another. The ‘one-size fits all’ supposedly healthy diet simply cannot work for everyone.

I will take into account the presenting symptoms alongside the much bigger picture considering influences to health e.g. dietary, emotional, mental and structural factors.

What we eat influences our physical, emotional, mental and spiritual wellbeing. As quoted by Hippocrates (460-377BC), the father of medicine: “let food be your medicine and medicine be your food”.

The Consultation Process
Pre-Consultation
Prior to the first session clients will be required to complete a Health Questionnaire and Routine Food Diary (these will be provided to you). All information shared with me is confidential.

Initial Consultation

During the initial consultation we will review all personal information including current and past medical history, allowing time for discussion about presenting symptoms, general health and wellbeing, personal goals and expectations.

Clients will leave the consultation with realistic and achievable action points (within workable timeframes), a list of dietary adjustments, suggestions for dietary support and supplementation recommendations (if considered necessary).

Stay In Touch

Following your initial consultation you will be sent a personalised report which outlines the recommended therapeutic approach with detailed information and suggestions for dietary and supplementary support.

I will stay in touch with you to discuss any questions or challenges that may arise. An option to extend ‘staying in touch’ weekly is available and highly recommended to motivate you to work towards your goals.

Follow Up

Follow up consultations are important in helping you to meet your goals and allow me to make changes to your nutritional plan if needed, discuss obstacles and challenges, and provide ongoing motivation and support.

Further visits may be required in order to monitor progress and ensure that our treatment plan remains appropriate and effective.

Ongoing Support

Sometimes life presents challenges and obstacles where you may need that extra little bit of encouragement to keep on track. I am available via email, telephone or Skype if you need a quick support consult.

If you choose the extended ‘staying in touch’ package this support is included.

In the event I feel further medical tests such as scans or blood tests are required, I will refer you to your GP or another appropriate medical professional.
